WELCOME
The aim of the Pathway Centre or North Powys pupil referral unit (PRU) is to provide tailored educational support to learners who have either been permanently excluded from schools in Powys, or who are at risk of exclusion, due to social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties (SEBD), emotionally based school avoidance (EBSA), medical needs, and those who are pregnant or young parents. The PRU strives to create a supportive and inclusive environment that addresses the unique needs of these learners, ensuring they receive the necessary education and care to succeed academically and personally. Learners are supported, where appropriate, to re-engage with mainstream education.
The PRU also delivers provides behaviour outreach to local schools. The PRU strive for excellence in learning and teaching, encouraging every learner to seek and achieve their potential within a balanced and carefully planned curriculum. The PRU provides high quality care and support for these vulnerable learners. The setting works hard to promote wellbeing and provide a safe, stimulating and engaging environment to help the young people realise their potential. The PRU provides a curriculum which is relevant to learners’ lives, where provision is matched to need and which ensures that learners have the skills, knowledge and understanding to prepare them for the next stage of their lives, whether it be through re-integration back to mainstream or onto the wider world of learning or employment training. The PRU encourages learners to take responsibility for their own actions and make informed choices to prepare them for the challenges of adult life and lifelong learning
